Created By You: Where Every Project Becomes a Personal Masterpiece
For over 25 years, Laura Whittington taught art and science to homeschool students, watching young learners discover their creative potential. As her classes grew larger and more popular, she realized the community needed something more than just occasional lessons. They needed a dedicated space where creativity could flourish any day of the week. That vision led her to open Created By You, a DIY art studio located at 1300 Central Boulevard, Suite D, in Brentwood, California.
"I am a homeschool mom, have homeschooled for over 25 years," Whittington explains. "Because the classes were getting to be so big, I decided to open a brick and mortar. We do a lot of work with students that are in charter schools and home schools as well. So it's nice to be able to have a place that provides something for everybody with all walks of life."
Local Conservationists Celebrate Diablo Range's New State Status
On August 13th, The Diablo Range was officially recognized as a conservation priority by the California government. This area includes Mount Diablo and runs through Contra Costa County
California lawmakers have officially recognized the Diablo Range as a conservation priority, a move that could help the state achieve its 30x30 climate goals. The resolution, ACR 107, passed unanimously in the Senate in August 2026, highlighting the range's 4 million acres, biodiversity, and importance to surrounding communities. Supporters hope the designation will spur further protection and public access to the area.

Jason Ryan Jr earns his first win of the season, while Hunter Hammett and Caden Sarale pick up their fourth on the August 15th race at Antioch Speedway
Hunter Hammett and Caden Sarale each picked up their fourth wins of the season at Antioch Speedway on August 15th, while Jason Ryan Jr earned his first victory of the year. Fred Ryland also added to his win total, and Joel Hannagan made it three straight in the Valley Sportsman division. The night featured multiple divisions and tight championship battles across the board.
