Building Confidence Through Creativity: Stu 212 Brings Music Therapy to Bay Area Youth
In community centers, libraries, and schools across the Bay Area, something transformative is happening. Young people who arrive quiet and guarded are finding their voices, not through traditional therapy or counseling, but through the universal language of music. At the heart of this change is Stu 212 Music Therapy Coping and Creativity, a nonprofit founded by Jeremy Phillips that uses music as a powerful coping mechanism to help youth navigate their everyday challenges.
Antioch's Najee Harris Returns to NFL with Giants, Ready to Prove Himself
Najee Harris signed with the New York Giants on August 18th. He is a former Antioch High School Panthers’s running back. We’re rooting for you, Najee!
Najee Harris, a former Pro Bowl running back and Antioch High School standout, has signed with the New York Giants as a free agent. He joins a team led by John Harbaugh, whose brother Jim coached Harris with the Chargers before a torn Achilles ended his 2025 season. Harris says he's ready to prove he can come back strong.

Antioch Library to Close for Major Renovation Starting September 1
The Antioch Library will close Sept. 1st for upgrades, expected to last until roughly February 15th, 2027.
The Antioch Library will close for about five and a half months starting September 1 for a major upgrade that includes electrical and lighting improvements, along with ADA-compliant parking lot changes. The project, funded by Measure X, state grants, and a donation from the Friends of the Antioch Library, will also bring new furniture and a children's play area. Patrons have until August 29 to collect holds, and unclaimed items will go to the Prewett Library.

Oakley City Council Appoints Henderson and Shaw to Uncontested Seats
Hugh Henderson and Shannon Shaw have been appointed to their seats by Oakley City Council, saving the city thousands of dollars. Both candidates ran uncontested.
Oakley's City Council has appointed Hugh Henderson and Shannon Shaw to fill two seats after no one else filed to run. The move saves the city about $49,206.50, which will be directed toward the library project. This continues a recent pattern where uncontested seats are filled by appointment rather than election.
