Dad's Diner Brings Family-Style Warmth and Classic Comfort to Brentwood
When Alejandra Flores took over Dad's Diner in December 2025, she didn't just acquire a restaurant. She inherited a beloved Brentwood gathering spot and transformed it into something deeply personal: a family business that reflects her passion for hospitality and her father's creative touch.
Located at 1135 2nd Street in Brentwood, Dad's Diner serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a focus on what Flores calls "great food, friendly service, and good old-fashioned diner vibes." The menu features classic comfort fare including fluffy pancakes, waffles, omelets, burgers, sandwiches, and milkshakes. It's the kind of place where variety meets nostalgia, and everyone can find something they love.
From Server to Owner: A Natural Progression
"I have been a server for many moons, since I can remember," Flores shares. "I love serving. I love the atmosphere of talking to people, engaging with people, hearing about their day, hopefully make them smile a little bit."
That passion for hospitality runs in the family. Flores's children now work at the diner alongside her, continuing a tradition that has defined her career. When the previous owner of what was then Dad's Café reached out about retiring and selling the business, the opportunity felt right. Flores kept the "Dad's" name in recognition of the restaurant's established reputation in the community, simply updating it to Dad's Diner to reflect a fresh chapter.
The "Dad's" moniker carries extra meaning now. Walk inside and you'll notice the décor adorning the walls, all curated and installed by Flores's father, Salvador Flores. His personal touches throughout the space reinforce the family atmosphere and complement the diner's welcoming theme perfectly.

Customer Favorites Worth the Visit
While the menu offers an impressive variety, two items have emerged as clear crowd favorites. "Very famous is our Benedicts and our French toast," Flores explains. The French toast stands out thanks to a special house batter that delivers exceptional flavor. Meanwhile, the Benedicts come in multiple varieties, from chicken fried steak to chorizo, with the "kitchen sink" version serving as what Flores calls a "heavy hitter." Both dishes are served with a choice of hash browns or country potatoes.

Dad’s Diner is famous for its variety of breakfast dishes, including their Benedicts.
Leading With Heart
The transition from server to owner brought new challenges, but Flores has approached leadership with the same warmth she's always brought to customer service. "There's two different sides from becoming a server, working as a server, to owning a restaurant, a business," she reflects. "I like to see it as I am part of the crew. I could, you know, I am the boss, but at the same time, we are a family."
That family includes the employees who stayed on when Flores took over. "They actually helped us once we took over, 'cause they stayed at the diner," she says proudly. "They helped us with filling the gaps. I'm very proud of my employees."

More Than Just a Meal
For Flores, Dad's Diner represents something bigger than breakfast and burgers. It's about creating connections and brightening someone's day. "I'm a very chatty person. I like to interact with people. I like to know about your day," she says. "If you're having a rough, bad day, I just want you to enjoy the food, relax, and kinda feel a little old school vibe."
Whether you're craving signature French toast, a hearty Benedict, or simply a friendly conversation in a welcoming atmosphere, Dad's Diner delivers the kind of experience that keeps customers coming back.
